Voucher winner for August!!!
Prior to brain injury I had always dreamed of doing the London Marathon. I had always been fit and healthy, a keen runner always looking to pursue new goals.
Then in July 2015, after having spent a lovely day with my family, I decided to go for a run with a local running club. I was new to the area and as well as keeping fit my intention was to make new friends. During the run I suffered a subdural haematoma. I had no symptoms, just a sense that something was wrong. At A&E I lost consciousness and ended up at the Heath hospital where I had a successful craniotomy.
When I woke up I was in loads of pain and in shock. I couldn’t believe what had happened.
What followed was a remarkably quick outward recovery followed by months of neurorehabilitation and lots of running! I returned to work in February 2016 and went on to have my baby girl in October 2016. Rosie is thriving and I am feeling stronger all the time.
In August 2017 I was offered a place on the Headway London Marathon team 2018. I have already started my training and my fundraising for Headway.
I am over the moon about this opportunity and can’t wait to do my bit for Headway.
But Rosie is the best blessing of all. I truly am blessed and surrounded with love.
