Hi We welcomed D and J who haven’t been before. D said that he enjoys talking with people. He also told us he was looking for solutions. D had a stroke in the right side of his brain. This has given him left-sided weakness and perceptual difficulties which will be greater in the left half of space. J and D said that he sometimes doesn’t recognise her because he does not recognise faces. So, when he sees J, he identifies her by what she is wearing. Hi T started us off. She remembered previous professional advice that she probably could develop certain capabilities. She didn’t follow that advice partly because her partner felt that she was unable to do some of these things. She said that she’s discovered that she can do things that she thought she was no longer able to do because of her brain injury. She is currently reassessing her potential. Hi J and C joined us for the first time. So everyone introduced themselves with their name and they shared something about themselves. J said that she had had a stroke leaving her with very little movement in her left-sided limbs. She said that she gets frustrated and upset on those frequent occasions when she is given advice that doesn’t make sense to her. She said that her husband often tells her that she is going the wrong way about things. Hi We welcomed a new member, S. He said that he wanted to meet people that understood where he was coming from. We all agreed that that was one of the main reasons why we all met together. He said that he had had a brain injury at birth. He subsequently had 2 head injuries. People tell him what to do but they don’t understand why he can’t do what they say.
